(Atlanta) The Georgia Republican Party is assaulting voting rights. They are trying to make it harder to vote in Georgia than anywhere in the United States. They are trying to dilute black voting strength in Georgia's Congressional Districts. This is a "New Georgia" indeed.
According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Georgia Republicans are trying to "make Georgia the toughest place in the nation to vote." Requiring a picture ID would "have a disproportionate impact on poor folks and the elderly." The editorial points out that there is "no evidence of rampant voter fraud." And the area not addressed by the GOP? "(T)he rules governing voter registration and absentee balloting, where there is no ID requirement of any kind."
